Hard

Challenging puzzles for experienced solvers. Larger grids (15x15 to 20x20) with complex patterns requiring advanced techniques.

Nonograms, also known as Picross, Griddlers, or Hanjie, are picture logic puzzles where you reveal a hidden image by filling cells in a grid. Using number clues on the side and top of the grid, you determine which cells should be filled and which should remain empty. Each number represents a consecutive group of filled cells in that row or column. These addictive puzzles combine logical deduction with artistic revelation, making them perfect for puzzle enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Strategy Tips

Master nonograms with these expert strategies:

  • Start with rows and columns that have large numbers or are nearly complete.
  • Look for clues where the sum of numbers (plus minimum spaces) equals the line length.
  • Mark definite empty cells with X to avoid confusion and aid visualization.
  • Work on multiple lines simultaneously - solving one often helps with others.
  • Look for overlapping possibilities when there's only one way to fit large groups.
  • Use completed lines to deduce cells in intersecting lines.
  • Pay attention to edge cells - they often provide important clues.
  • Take breaks if stuck - fresh eyes often spot patterns you missed.
  • Practice with easier puzzles to build pattern recognition skills.
  • Remember: every puzzle is solvable through pure logic!

Game Rules

  • Numbers indicate consecutive filled cells in a row or column.
  • Multiple numbers in a clue are separated by at least one empty cell.
  • A clue of '0' means the entire row or column should be empty.
  • The order of numbers matches the order of groups from left to right (rows) or top to bottom (columns).
  • Each incorrect cell fill costs one life. You start with 3 lives.
  • The puzzle is complete when all cells are correctly filled or marked empty.
  • You can undo moves if you make a mistake.
  • Hints will reveal one correct cell, but use them wisely!
  • There is only one valid solution for each puzzle.
  • All puzzles can be solved using logic alone - no guessing required!
